The Ashen Blade of Vicar Thomas
Flavor Text:
They pulled it from the vestry after the fires stopped, still warm despite the ash that caked every other surface in Blackmire Parish. The steel had gone the color of spent coal, streaked with veins that shimmer faintly when the Grey Fog rolls through the lower wards. Vicar Thomas is remembered by the surviving congregation not for his sermons but for his silence — three days of it, locked in the chapel with something the parish records only as "the Kindness." When they finally broke the door, the vicar was gone and the blade was all that remained, humming a note just below hearing. Those who carry it long enough say they stop dreaming, and start listening instead.
World Context:
The Ashen Blade is one of the so-called Vestry Relics, weapons and tools left behind after clergy across Blackmire succumbed to the Grey Fog's whispering influence during the Parish Silences. The Cinderwatch — the city's fog-wardens — consider such relics contraband, believing each one still carries a fragment of whatever spoke to its original bearer. Black market reliquarians pay handsomely for them regardless of the warnings.
Mechanics (If applicable):
- +15 Slashing Damage
- Inflicts "Bleed" status on hit
- Reduces player sanity by 2 per swing
